Family Search Revisited

Have you looked at the Family Search website recently? There are some new features that ahve been introduced and some old ones reinstated.
A new one is the Research Wiki, which is a free collection of family history articles provided by family history enthusiasts from around the world. The wiki makes it easy for people to share research information and useful tips and provides valuable resources for anyone who wants to learn more about their family history.

An old one is the Batch Number Search. This was recently restored and a Batch Number Search can be done from the search page at https://www.familysearch.org/search/ . By using this search feature, you can search the entire data set for a range of years from a batch of records, such as Norwich Cathedral marriages or christenings. this feature is a great tool used to help you discover the names of additional family members, such as an ancestor's siblings, and to overcome problems in both surname and given name spelling variations.

Please note - there have been some small glitches with the Batch Number Search, but solutions have been found for these minor problems and can be read on the Family Search website at https://www.familysearch.org/node/1454 . There is also a related article, which may be of assistance - "A Hugh Wallis Alternative: Using Filtering features to Customise Your Searches in FamilySearch.org."
